Using Near-Field Communication (NFC) to Improve Messaging Privacy on Android OS
Nakonec předkládáme vzorovou implementaci klientské i serverové aplikace a zhodnocení vlastností tohoto systému z hlediska soukromí a bezpečí.
Smartphones as experimental tools to take measurements in environmental engineering
Bernard, Jan ; Hejčík, Jiří (referee) ; Jedelský, Jan (advisor)
The thesis is focused on the measuring of the physical quantities by the means of smartphones. It gives a list of the sensors which smartphones contain and it briefly describes their function in ordinary use and their use for the measuring not only physical quantities. Sensors of the mechanical quantities are documented in a greater extent. The measurement limits are addressed as well as the information what inaccuracies of measured quantities can be expected. The study also deals with the added devices which help to overcome the limits of inbuilt sensors and by that they make the measurement more accurate. A review of several researches on already made measurements of the mechanical quantities with smartphones is also given. The last part of the study describes an experiment during which six mobile phones with Android system and six applications were tested by measuring a pink noise signal. Two main facts follows from the results. The measurement with a phone calibrated previously cannot be considered as reliable, the errors can be in the rate of tens of decibels. Whereas phones after calibration in the levels range 45 – 85 dB, when the measuring error is linear, can be used for measurement of the noise with the error less than 2 dB.
Smartphones in education
Hruška, Ondřej ; Vaňková, Petra (advisor) ; Leipert, Jiří (referee)
Modern technology has become an integral part of our life but its implementation into school education is not so fast. Most of the population own a smartphone. While some people say that smartphones should be used in the lessons, others would prefer a partial or complete ban on them in schools. This work summarizes strengths and weaknesses of smartphones in education based on the literature review and discusses some recommendations on their use. Use of smartphones in education was studied in an application which helped with the basics of Russian alphabet. It was shown that most of the users did not read license terms, preferred their own gender for application voice and tended to leave the application prematurely. The users from primary and secondary schools seemed to prefer to use the application more at weekends than on working days, and the application was willingly installed more by older users. A questionnaire survey at a school was used to grasp the whole topic. It was revealed that that touch devices would be welcome in education by students, and they were prepared to use their own smartphone for studying, but at school rather than in their free time. Mobile phone is the preferred device for games playing and internet browsing, but the most used applications include social networks,...
Use of fitness applications of mobile phones in leisure time physical activities of students in selected high school
BENEŠ, Jonáš
This graduation thesis deals with the use of mobile phone applications designed to support the physical activities of high school students and the extent to which affect physical activities in their leisure time. The first part of the thesis deals with theoretical knowledge about leisure time, adolescence and its problems, physical activity and mobile technologies. The second part of the thesis deals with research, which included students of a selected high school in České Budějovice. The research group consists of students of a higher level of a multi-year high school. Finding out to what extent students use mobile phone applications designed to support physical activities and to what extent it affects physical activities in their free time was done using an anonymous questionnaire and selected fitness application. The data were further processed using descriptive statistics and the measured values of the average number of steps from the two periods were compared with each other.

Smartphones in education

Modern technology has become an integral part of our life. Schools are often conservative, so involvement of technology in education is delayed. Most of the population own a smartphone, and while some people say that smartphones should be used in the lessons, others would prefer a complete ban on them. This work sums up strengths and weaknesses of smartphones in education based on literature and discusses some recommendations on their use. Smartphones usage in education was studied in an application which helps with basics of Russian alphabet. It was shown that majority of the users did not read license terms, preferred the same sex for application voice and tended to leave the application prematurely. A questionnaire survey on a school was used to grasp the whole topic. It was revealed that that touch devices would be welcome in education by students, and they are prepared to use their own smartphone for studying although rather at school than in their free time. Mobile phone is the preferred device for games playing and internet browsing but the most commonly used applications include social networks, communication programs and video players. It seems that the worst school results are achieved by students who use the smartphones most, but best results are not achieved by students who use the phone the least.
